St. Vincent feastday Mass
On Saturday, September 27, 2014 the Spokane District Council together with Fr. Jose Luis Millan of St Anthony Parish hosted Bishop Cupich who said Mass in honor of St. Vincent on his feast day. In attendance were Vincentians from throughout Eastern Washington, members of the parish, and other local catholics. In his homily, Bishop Cupich – who had, a week previously, been named archbishop of Chicago – spoke of the Christian ideals St. Vincent embodied and the urgency of the needs the Society faces in the world today. He also encouraged the Vincentians gathered to embrace their vocation and model their service to the Lord and his poor on the life of St. Vincent and the founders of the Society. During the Mass, the Vincentians all renewed their vows. A reception for Bishop Cupich followed the Mass and was itself followed by a district council meeting. The St Anthony’s conference thanks Bishop Cupich and Fr. Jose for generously concelebrating a beautiful and memorable Mass and Loretta Thompson and her Vincentians of St. Thomas More Conference for helping us host the reception!
